Swede Shopify Apps Privacy Policy

Swede ("we", "us", or "our") develops Shopify apps for merchants. This Privacy Policy describes how personal information is collected, used, and shared when you install or use our apps in connection with your Shopify-supported store (collectively, the "Apps").

Our Apps currently include Super Simple Preorder, which lets customers order products before they are in stock. We may update this policy as we release additional Apps or change how existing Apps handle data.

Personal Information the Apps Collect

When you install an App, we are automatically able to access certain types of information from your Shopify account, including:

  • Shop and account information, such as your shop domain, shop name, contact email, country, currency, and plan details;
  • Products, variants, and inventory, needed to configure preorder rules and display accurate storefront messaging;
  • Orders and fulfillments, needed to process and manage preorders you enable;
  • Selling plans and related checkout configuration, where required for preorder payment or authorization flows you set up;
  • Other Shopify resources the App needs to provide its features, only to the extent permitted by the permissions you grant at installation.

Additionally, we collect the following types of personal information from you and/or your customers once you have installed an App:

  • Merchant configuration you set in the App, such as preorder rules, product or variant selections, messaging, and related settings;
  • Information about you and others who may access the App on behalf of your store, such as your name, email address, and billing information associated with your Shopify subscription to the App;
  • Customer-related data processed on your behalf when shoppers interact with App-powered storefront features (for example, preorder labels or checkout behavior). We process this data as a service provider to you, the merchant;
  • Support and communications when you contact us, including the content of your messages and any information you choose to provide;
  • Technical and usage information, such as log data, error reports, and aggregated usage metrics to operate, secure, and improve our Apps.

We collect personal information directly from you, through your Shopify account, or using the following technologies:

  • Log files track actions occurring in the App and our systems, and collect data including IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.
  • Cookies and similar technologies may be used in the App admin or our websites to maintain sessions and remember preferences. For more information about cookies, and how to disable cookies, visit allaboutcookies.org.

We do not use merchant or customer data from our Apps to sell personal information to third parties.

How Do We Use Your Personal Information?

We use the personal information we collect from you and your customers in order to provide the Apps and to operate them. Additionally, we use this personal information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Apps and their features;
  • Authenticate your shop and enforce App permissions granted via Shopify;
  • Process preorders and related merchant workflows you configure;
  • Communicate with you, including support requests and important notices about the Apps;
  • Monitor reliability, prevent abuse, and protect the security of our services;
  • Optimize or improve the Apps; and
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

Where applicable privacy law requires a legal basis, we rely on: performance of a contract (providing the Apps you install); legitimate interests (operating and improving our services, security, and support); and consent or legal obligation where required.

Sharing Your Personal Information

We may share your personal information with:

  • Shopify, as required for App installation, billing, and platform integration under Shopify's terms and policies;
  • Service providers who help us host, operate, monitor, or support the Apps (for example, cloud hosting and error reporting), under contracts that limit their use of data to providing services to us.

We do not share merchant or customer personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Finally, we may also share your personal information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant, or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.

Your Rights

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another region with similar privacy laws, you have the right to access personal information we hold about you and to ask that your personal information be corrected, updated, or deleted. If you would like to exercise this right, please contact us using the contact information below.

Additionally, if you are a European resident we note that we are processing your information in order to fulfill contracts we might have with you (for example, your subscription to the App), or otherwise to pursue our legitimate business interests listed above. Additionally, please note that your information may be transferred outside of Europe, including to Australia and the United States.

Merchants who use our Apps are generally responsible for responding to their customers' privacy requests; we assist merchants as required by our role as a service provider.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal information, or to object to certain processing. To exercise rights relating to data we control, email privacy@swede.au. We may need to verify your identity or authority before responding.

Data Retention

We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Apps, fulfill the purposes described in this policy, and comply with legal obligations. When you uninstall an App, we delete or anonymize shop data within a reasonable period, unless and until you ask us to delete it sooner, except where we must retain it for legal, security, or backup purposes.

Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

Our Apps are intended for merchants using Shopify and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the effective date above. Material changes may also be communicated through the App or other reasonable means.
